Fabulous Ways to Store Your Embroidery Floss

Hello, recently I’ve bought a buttload of embroidery floss, but I have no idea how to store it and its too plain just to stick them in a bag to toss somewhere. Any ideas?

First off, lucky you! Second off, super question! Third off I am sorry this took so long! Fourth off yes, I found some great options. (Please excuse the bad grammar!)

This is my meager collection. Collected mostly from thrift shop grab bags but I spent an entire afternoon winding it around DMC floss bobbins that I bought at Michaels. I keep it in a removable case in a caddy that holds four of these puppies. (But that is another post for another day.)

No need to buy your bobbins though, you can download these abso-freakin-lutely adorable ones from Wild Olive for free!

I can’t believe this never occurred to me! This is how I store my vintage carded buttons and most of my smaller ephemera. This photo is from Permutations in Fibre and is actually from a tutorial to turn binder sheets into perfectly sized floss holders but you could do what I do and buy hockey card sheets from your local comic book store.

This photo is from Flickr user barefootshepardess and is probably my favourite for cleverness. The user found lidded trays that hold loose floss perfectly.
