Recycled Magazine Placemats

jesswess asked:

So, this is more about the DIY than the storage, but I was wondering if you found any good recycled magazine placemat (like these: http://www.organicstyle.com/p_805/Eco-Friendly/Garden/Home/magazine-placemats.html) instructions?

While I couldn’t find instructions for one of these, as soon as I saw it, it reminded me of the twig/bambook coasters and placemats I’ve seen around. So I googled twig coasters and found these at Martha Stewart with instructions.

From the Martha Stewart website “These coasters look like rafts afloat a tabletop. For each coaster, gather 22 small, straight twigs, and trim them to a length of 5 inches. Double a length of waxed twine, loop center an inch from the end of first twig, and tie once. Tie twine around remaining twigs, one by one. Tie knot at end; cut twine close to knot. Repeat on other side.”

I would suspect that to make the magazine version, you just roll your pages nice and tight, seal them somehow (Maybe Mod Podge) and then tie them like the above coasters.

Hope that helps! Cheers,M.
